Aye - Demeures remarquables

Discovery and recreation

On the right, between the Monument and the church, several remarkable residences follow one another. At No. 12, there is an old L-shaped farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. At No. 16, the Manor, a residence of traditional architecture built of brick and blue stone on a limestone base, consists of a large main building surrounded by outbuildings dating from 1699-1700. After suffering during the war, the building was restored between 1920 and 1927, and again between 1967 and 1970. The Château-ferme, at No. 20, was built during the first half of the 17th century. Once, the main building was surrounded by moats, and a drawbridge provided access to the castle. These elements remained for a long time and were still mentioned in 1877. It was in the 18th century that the castle was converted into a farmhouse.
