Signature officielle de la charte entre les deux communes

Since Saturday, September 5th, the municipalities of Marche-en-Famenne and Bourg-Léopold (Limburg province) are officially twinned. The City of Marche aimed to establish relations with a Dutch-speaking municipality, fostering unity and friendship. The mayors of each municipality, Nicolas Grégoire and Marleen Kauffmann, signed a twinning charter, committing to develop collaborations in various areas: language exchanges between schools, hosting youth movements, cultural and heritage collaborations...

This charter is a starting point: both municipalities are eager to create a dynamic and vibrant twinning, involving citizens in the process. Our two municipalities also share the commonality of having a military camp, with the presence of the 1st Brigade (Bourg-Léopold) and the 7th Brigade (Marche-en-Famenne). After a morning of exchanges at the Town Hall, Saturday provided the Bourg-Léopold delegation the opportunity to discover Marche-en-Famenne, particularly the historic center and the church of Waha with its Folon stained glass windows.

The City thanks the commanders of both Brigades for their presence, Colonel Philip Pirard and Colonel Damien Lathuy, as well as the musicians from the Academy for their musical accompaniment.
