Marché 1900

Every August 15th, the city of Marche-en-Famenne transforms into a true setting of the Belle Époque for the famous Marché 1900. This unmissable event attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to discover the warm and authentic atmosphere of a market from yesteryear.

An Immersion in the Belle Époque

The city center of Marche-en-Famenne hosts, for one day, artisans, musicians, street performers, and passionate costumed enthusiasts. From the very first streets, visitors are immersed in the atmosphere of the early 20th century.

On the agenda:

  • bird market;
  • traditional games;
  • musical and folkloric performances;
  • tastings of regional specialties;
  • traditional crafts

Local products play an important role during the festival, including the famous matoufè, a typically Marche specialty.

An Event for the Whole Family

Marché 1900 delights all generations. The older attendees reminisce about times gone by while the younger ones discover a living heritage often overlooked.

The lively streets, period costumes, and performances create a unique atmosphere that has made the event renowned far beyond the borders of the region.
