Discovery and recreation

Marche is home to numerous characterful buildings. The architectural harmony of the city, its remarkably renovated streets and buildings, its pedestrian zone, its tree-lined squares, and its many fountains and sculptures are all signs of successful urban renewal. It is worth noting that the City of Marche was chosen as the Belgian winner of the 2011 EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) competition for its many rehabilitated sites. Among the highlighted sites are: the Tower of Juniesse (the last remnant of medieval fortifications), the Jadot House (Famenne Museum), the Carmes, the Van der Straeten Castle (town hall), the Manoir (hotel-restaurant), the old grain hall (restaurant), the former Jesuit church (hotel-restaurant), … To guide you, a descriptive booklet is available at the House of Tourism.
