'Alliance éternelle' - Œuvre d'Hélène Jacubowitz (2005)
Discovery and recreation
This tender and graceful bronze sculpture is a tribute to motherhood and evokes the Virgin and Child (of which a representation can be seen inside the church).
Hélène JACUBOWITZ was born in Antwerp in 1952. Immersed in an artistic environment from a young age (her father is a goldsmith and her brother a jeweler), she began working with metal early on. Driven by her pursuit of perfection (passed down from her father), she studied under Peter Schlosser and then with Ruperto Urzua, a Chilean sculptor and professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Her talent has been recognized numerous times, particularly in national and international competitions she has participated in. She has exhibited her works in many countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Sweden, Israel, and the United States. With her predominantly feminine, elongated, and abstract sculptures, while also being figurative, her works transcend a peaceful grace and sensuality, evoking a sense of movement and occupying space. Shaped by light, they are primarily made of bronze and reflect the artist's ability to blend into the depths of the human psyche.
