The artist started from the very essence of the roundabout: the circumference. By taking this perfect shape, the circle, he gave it volume and density through welded stainless steel sheets. The ‘sway’ adds meaning to the space, and the artwork integrates into it, creating visual interlaces as one moves around. Also simply symbolizing the circulation around the roundabout, it marks the entrance to the city of Marche coming from the Route du Condroz.

Serge GANGOLF was born in 1943 in Wegnez-Verviers - passed away in 2025. A professor at the Academies of Fine Arts in Namur and Verviers, he has been a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium since 2004. Recognized internationally since 1974, the year he received the Rome Prize, his preferred materials include: bronze, stone, corten steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. His works can be admired in Marche, Liège, as well as in Quebec or South America. While he does not align himself with any artistic movement, he advocates for the preeminence of form and the relationship between forms.
