Show: Sacha Farra - Flat Country

Event

Despite his post-depressive forty-something appearance, as he says in his first show "Flat Country," Sacha Ferra has a quick wit and a wealth of ideas.

It must be said that this young Brussels native was raised on humor. In his family, making a joke is a way of saying I love you. Well, it's more about not saying it but making it known nonetheless. So much so that in his daily life, Sacha admits he can no longer distinguish between first and second degree. Humor is his nature, his philosophy, his guiding principle.

As a child, he watched Gad Elmaleh's shows on repeat with his father. Since then, he has devoured thousands of YouTube videos of people who make him laugh. Laughing gives him the feeling of being alive. And it's also what drives Sacha to keep everyone around him laughing.

This is how he built himself and found his place in adolescence, taking on the role of the joker for his classmates. They were the first to double over at one of his sketches during a school trip. A great encouragement for Sacha, who would later test his jokes in a competition at the Kings of Comedy Club in Brussels. It was his first stage, he went quietly, didn’t mention it to anyone, and made it to the quarter-finals.

Over time, Sacha develops a stand-up repertoire that dissects the peculiarities of his flat country. The Brussels native talks about what he knows best: his daily life and those around him. By making jokes, he expresses his love for Belgium, casually, as always. He also applies another great principle of the Ferra family, to laugh at oneself above all. When you can laugh at yourself, when others do it, it no longer hurts. This will become a mantra for life and the heart of his show. Since everywhere, people poke fun at Belgians, he will give the good reasons to do so by showcasing Belgian genius. His Flat Country tells that in Belgium, being too serious is impossible. The national outcome is to create distance from situations that overwhelm us. Nothing is serious, everything is fine when we can laugh at ourselves.
